Should I upgrade my bee?

 Day 10

Dear Diary,

So I have this bee with 165 endurance. At 175 it can go 1 zone up, wich is 6% more endurance. Should I upgrade my bee or not?!

If I boost the bee from zone 4 to zone 5, it will go from a 52.2% halving penalty to a 61.41% halving penalty, meaning I will get a ~18% boost on his agility and capacity.

The bee will go from 0.5748 daily to 0.6762 daily. A difference of 0.1 per day. Per month this is about 3HXD difference.

6% endurance has a value of 18 HXD at this moment (item marketplace). So it would take me half a year to get those costs back and only after that it it would gain me more. It's not a great return.

However, there is a little more to it. But now it will get complicated, so if you can't follow it (yet), feel free to skip or maybe re-read it after a couple of weeks playing honeyland.

I have 3 other bees that are Meadow. I generally send those in a team of 3 for extra boosts.

Their stats are not synced, so they will leave the land at 3 different times. This means only 1 bee will get the 15% boost, 1 bee will get 5% boost and 1 bee will get nothing. If I send this bee along, I will get 2 bees with 15% boost, 1 with 5% boost and 1 with nothing.

I'm going to take a shortcut now in calculating this. You should calculate it on the exact order the bees will leave, but I'll take an average. I had an ((15+5)/3)=6.7% boost on average on my bees before, now I will have a ((15+15+5)/4)=8.8% boost.

They brought in a total of 1.7505 per run, which would now be 1.7850 per run, another 3.1 HXD extra per month. Now the return is 3 months and on top of this all, the bee will be worth more if I would want to re-sell it, because of the higher zone it can reach.

So, should I upgrade my bee?!

As I've showed you, it depends on many factors. There is some real strategy and resource management involved here. That's why I personally love Honeyland! Every case is different and for every case you'll have to do the math again. but for this specific one:

YES!

Icerax: How to open the portal to Cocarro

Day 16 Dear Diary, I'm going for Icerax! Startegy: get 1-3 bees with luck > 250. They're supposed to stay in the battle for a long time, and will do a lot of damage that way. So I've bought a couple of relatively cheap luck upgrades and upgrades the highest luck bees. These 3 are supposed to be my MVP's! I started the battle with 3975 attack, the battle starts at 01:00 am for me. When I woke up, this was the snapshot, already more than the minimum needed to qualify! And when the evening started it looked like this It's looking good I think! If I filter by luck, I see all the high luck ones are still in the battle! It's paying off!  Oh, I also see I upgraded 1 that can only fight last few hours  My advise, when you don't have many bees, go for a few with high luck! I also made level 13 by the way 🔥

Icerax? Hunting profits? Cocarro Team? Answers to big questions!

Day 18 Dear Diary, I know, I know, you're wondering: - Did she get the portal stone from Icerax?! - Is she still hunting? - If so why? Or why not? - What are we even gonna do in Cocarro? Let me immediately jump into this.  I had more than enough damage, ended up as 19 and as expected my luck upgraded bees did most of the work and survived the full battle! See my other blog for more info about this strategy. And now what?! Yeah, good question. After spending all HXD on earth assets this was now more of a pride thing than anything else. However, I did buy the starter pass now for 200 HXD. This would allow me to do explore missions. Maybe we can get some bees and a queen to do some of those.  So how to get those bees? Well, hunting of course!! I did another 100 hunts and re-checked the profits to see if I should still be hunting. It's an overwhelming YES. Check it out. These are today's market prices and the green ones are the most profitable. Also, I pay a max of 0.5 per ...

What the Whale?!

Message from the future: This article was written and published in January, far before the changes to the generations in U1/Earth. All the basics still apply, the strategy would still be low zone turbo harvesting, but it might be interesting to spend a little bit more on quality > quantity and the asset prices are not the same anymore after that announcement. What are the changes? Only gen 3 eggs can be created, for 150 shards + WAX Gen 3 Bees will have 99 floor and 130 ceiling stats Per 1st April: Gen 3: 60% decrease in Queen Boost effectiveness Gen 2: 30% decrease in Queen Boost effectiveness There is an event item coming that will give players the option to increase the Generation of a Bee. Let's only look at the Queen Boost effectiveness for gen 3 now.  Before the changes (right now) a 270 gen 1 queen would give 108 stats to the gen 3. A 120 floor bee (overall) would end up as 228, 262 with other bees, and would bring in 0.33 hxd per run (with 2 others).  After the chan...
